Project Description

This project, located in the historic Broadway District in the Slavic Village neighborhood of Cleveland, involved the complete restoration and adaptive re-use of a historic 6-story building utilizing Historic Tax Credits and a blend of public and private financing.  The ground floor contains 2,500 square feet of retail storefront space, and the upper floors contain 15 new apartments, including 10 two-bedroom and 5 one-bedroom suites.  The building originally housed the Atlas Savings and Loan bank, and was completely renovated and adapted from commercial office space into new housing.

TESCO Role

Tesco was the General Contractor of this project and has been responsible for providing all pre-construction pricing and design coordination.  Tesco has worked closely with the owner and architect to assist in the design and layout of the project, including following a detailed demolition and conversion plan that removed the original bank vault while retaining the historic elements on both the interior and exterior of the building.  As a requirement of the Historic Tax Credit financing for the project, Tesco has provided a complete historic restoration of the building and met all U.S. Department of Interior requirements for historic preservation.
